Africa

Kenya lies astride the equator on the eastern coast of Africa and is bordered in the north by Sudan and Ethiopia, in the east by Somalia, on the southeast by the Indian Ocean, on the southwest by Tanzania and to the west by Lake Victoria and Uganda.

Kenya is notable for its geographical variety. The low-lying, fertile coastal region, fringed with coral reefs and islands.

The principal rivers are the Tana and the Athi, flowing southeast to the Indian Ocean, the Ewaso Ngiro flowing northeast to the swamps of the Lorian Plain, and the Nzoia, Yala and Gori, which drain eastward into Lake Victoria. Low plains rise to central highlands, divided by the Great African Rift Valley.

Kenya is well known as the home of the safari. Few places provide the extraordinary opportunity to view wildlife in its natural habitat. East Africa's reputation as the greatest safari destination is well deserved. This is a region of dramatic contrasts and extraordinary wildlife on display and landscapes of great beauty and variety. It hard to rival the range of travel choices Kenya offers from scenic tours to cultural immersion, to sitting on the beautiful beaches.

The word safari was invented in Kenya where in Kiswahili it means "journey." The boundless wilderness and big game of this region has long attracted adventure seekers from all over the world. Kenya offers you a chance to experience a natural world unchanged by the passage of time.

This great range of natural habitats means that there is plenty to explore, and plenty of species to encounter. This is a land of endless potential for the wildlife enthusiast. From the migration of the herds of the open savannah to an incredible abundance of birdlife, from the depths of a tropical rainforest to the depths of the Indian Ocean teeming with fish, this a world of natural wonders.

Kenya has 59 national parks and game reserves including the world's greatest wildlife spectacle, the annual wildebeest migration to the Masai Mara.

Kenya gives you the opportunity to learn about endangered wildlife such as the black rhino, sea turtle, Grevy's zebra, sitatunga, wild dog and Colobus monkey. Not to mention the 300-mile of Indian Ocean coastline of beautiful beaches with palm trees swaying in the breeze, warm, turquoise waters and a coral reef.
